Jason Smith is a compliance professional with 17 years of experience in the energy industry; primarily focused on NERC CIP, Risk Management, and Information Technology. Mr. Smith is a subject matter expert for all CIP standards with an emphasis on risk identification, regulatory oversight, and controls implementation.
Mr. Smith has been the primary SME and managed all facets of a best-in-class CIP compliance programs for multiple entities. He successfully managed large scale projects such as the construction of new Control Centers, cyber security monitoring systems and remote access platforms to identify and assist in controls implementations to ensure an emphasis on security while adhering to regulatory requirements. Mr. Smith successfully worked with entities in multiple regions to manage and coordinate all stages of compliance audits, performed mock audits, and performed gap analysis to identify areas of risk.
Jason has assisted entities with the education and training for new and/or updated regulatory standards and assisted in the design of processes, procedures, and evidence collection to ensure adherence prior to mandatory compliance dates. This includes the initial drafting of policy, program, plan, and process documentation to meet regulatory requirements while creating administrative efficiencies where possible.
