David Foose

For more than 20 years, David Foose has been a truly dedicated industry steward for Industrial Control System (ICS) cybersecurity focused on protecting critical infrastructure globally. You may know him from his work at Emerson’s Power & Water Solutions business as the Power & Water Solutions Cybersecurity Strategist and Business Development Manager or more recently as the Senior Product Manager of Platform Infrastructure at Dragos.
David was originally hired by Emerson Power and Water in 2008 to test and build out a suite of products and services to assist asset owners with NERC compliance objectives. Over the next 14 years, Mr. Foose has acted as a champion for his customer base and acted as a subject matter expert for vendors, solution providers, and governmental agencies on what has worked and not worked in practical application and audit situations. With Emerson Ovation's market share in North America, this gave a unique view of most of the market including competitor products throughout most of the enforceable compliance period. He has held several advisory positions on governmental groups including NERC drafting committees and other industry organizations like EEI, EPRI, and ICSJWG. David has participated in several panels and led many technical discussions at major cybersecurity conferences including SANS ICS, S4 (DigitalBond) and many others.
David holds a Master’s degree in IT Security and Assurance from Robert Morris University and was one of the first industry experts to receive the SANS Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) certification. He has since obtained the SANS Global Information Security Professional (GISP) as well as several other network and cybersecurity related credentials.
David has a keen focus and deep expertise in developing strategies for successful ICS cybersecurity programs to protect systems from potential threats, strengthen system performance and ensure ongoing reliability. His 20+ years of industry experience combined with his educational background, has made him a truly valued expert in developing actionable and achievable strategies for industry.
